this week
... nursing my hubby who's got gout, the worst he's had yet.
... doing all the run around as hubby is immobile due to gout.
... have sore shoulder blades from swimming classes.
... looking forward to the long weekend but can't really plan anything as it would be highly dependent on the progress of hubby's recovery and of course the weather.
... loving the sun but man, it is freezing cold!
... was told off by 5 year old daughter when I drove her to school, parked the car and instantaneously, mindlessly led her to cross the street from where we parked.
CERISE: Mummy, no! We have to use the crossing lane!
(mummy contemplates"make 30 steps to make it to the crossing lane or 8 steps to make it straight across? oh right, it's "Keeping Safe" theme this term". So mummy grumpily walks to the crossing lane and nods at the Safety Team supervisor who acknowledges mummy's "responsible conduct" with a smile while mummy thinks to herself "yeah, whatever".)
(Safety Team puts down the STOP sign for oncoming traffice and mummy instantaneously, mindlessly starts walking across)
CERISE: Mummy, no! We have to wait for the Safety Team to let us cross!
(and with that cue, mummy hears one of the Safety Team people yell out "You may cross now!")
We make it across and mummy thinks to self "Whoa, all this drama. What a waste of time." But daughter who hasn't a clue of what "some things are better left unsaid" means, shakes her heard, raises both eyebrows and with an unmistakable tone of disappointment belts out "You are not very good at this, mummy."
Ouch. That stung. Left me speechless, embarrassed, stripped off of my PERFECT MOTHER badge as my daughther officially turned from being my biggest fan to being my biggest and most frank critic.

I think the last time I saw her, she was a baby...
